Family situations cover a wide range of stories, there really is something for everyone: bitter arguments, bequests, acts of altruism and solidarity, etc. Yet, for better or for worse, when we think of family, we immediately associate the idea of a safe place surrounded by trusted people who can support us and make us feel loved.
The woman in this story grew up in such an environment, with one important difference: the one she always called mom was not her biological mother. Lisa Wright grew up with all the care and love a mother can give, but she always knew in her heart that she was not the daughter of the woman who raised her. One day, the woman herself confessed the truth to him, telling him how things had happened: “Your mother had you when you were only 18 and she just couldn’t take care of you. She knew how much I wanted a girl and so she preferred to entrust you to me, for your own good. But remember: you were not abandoned.
Her adoption was “closed,” meaning there was no way to find her biological family. But when Lisa became a mother years later, her son convinced her to take a genetic test, and the result was a big surprise. The DNA test had found a match: her uncle had been identified. So, the woman decided to contact the found relative, starting to exchange messages. Shortly after, the two spoke on the phone and Lisa gave him all the details about her story: “I was born on December 10, 1964. I was told that my biological mother was very young when she told me she had moved to Los Angeles because she wanted to be an actress in Hollywood. And at that moment, her uncle interrupted him, saying: “It’s you, we were looking for you. We were all looking for you.”
Lisa had thus obtained the name and surname of her biological mother and searched for her on the internet: the resemblance was incredible. Shortly after, an unexpected phone call: “Hi Lisa, it’s Lynne, your mother.”
The two women had finally found each other after 54 years of separation! But the surprises were not over yet.
