The inspiring story of Dino Impagliazzo: a heart wide open for the homeless of Rome

The Limitless Generosity of Dino Impagliazzo. With only the help of a few volunteers, Dino Impagliazzo has undertaken to improve the lives of the homeless in Rome. This 90-year-old man, an emblematic figure of charity, puts his energy at the service of others, revealing his immense dedication.
“15 years dedicated to helping others, without asking for anything in return!” This is the leitmotif of Mr. Dino, who for some time now has been cooking for about 300 inhabitants of the streets of Rome. His mission is a true symbol of altruism.
An encounter that changes everything
Dino’s commitment to the needy began 15 years ago, when a homeless person asked him for coffee near the Tuscolana station. It was a turning point for Dino: more than a coffee, these people needed food and attention. Accompanied by his wife, Fernanda, he began to distribute sandwiches.

Dino then created RomAmoR, a charity, and since then, he has been on the streets three days a week, sharing the food he prepares. This regular gesture has become a commitment of the heart for him and his team. The evolution of the RomAmoR project
Initially, Dino and volunteers cooked at home. But soon, the project grew thanks to the support of companies. Now, RomAmoR has a spacious kitchen to prepare meals.
Ingredients donated with love
Dino’s dishes, often soups, are prepared with ingredients donated by bakeries and supermarkets. These donations underline the importance of the community contribution to this project.

Thanks to his culinary skills, Dino is affectionately nicknamed the “chef of the poor”. His meals are distributed in key locations such as train stations and St. Peter’s Square.

RomAmoR now has around 300 volunteers and distributes 32,000 meals annually. Dino Impagliazzo firmly believes that there is always room to grow. The association also offers blankets, clothes and hygiene products.

“We are trying to involve more and more people so that Rome becomes a city where people can love each other. This is solidarity,” Dino told Reuters in an interview. His story is a reminder that help can always be given, no matter our age or situation.
