Rather than going into debt to have their dream home, Gareth and Lamorna Hollingsworth opted for an unconventional but nonetheless very clever path. The couple literally renovated an old bus to turn it into a unique cocoon and travel across Europe. We tell you all about it.
Isn’t a mobile home a true symbol of freedom? Daring and adventurous, these lovebirds didn’t hesitate to invest all their savings in this 1997 bus to turn it into a real little habitable gem. A daring plan that was well put together, as the Daily Mail website explains. Modern and functional, their new “home” has fascinated many people. Gareth, Lamorna and their dog were ready to go sailing on an adventure!
Advocating an alternative lifestyle, where exploration takes on its full meaning, this couple made a surprising decision that defies social norms. Aboard their bus, completely transformed into a warm and functional cabin, Gareth and Lamorna embrace the idea that life should be seen as a thrilling adventure to be enjoyed without restraint, an endless road to explore. “We chose this bus because we wanted enough space to live comfortably, but above all with the possibility of moving around freely,” explains Gareth.
In their new modern two-storey home, the living areas are ingeniously separated. For example, the bedrooms are located on the second floor, offering privacy and comfort. Downstairs, on the first floor, the kitchen and dining room are welcoming, equipped with a refrigerator, a sink with a pull-out pantry and even a cozy fireplace!
Powered by solar energy, equipped with lithium batteries and solar panels, the bus embodies total autonomy. “Our solar system offers almost 4 kilowatts of battery storage, guaranteeing about a week of use,” explains the man.
Modernity and conviviality at the rendezvous: here are in pictures the transformation of the bus into an avant-garde living space
After nearly two years of renovations, the total investment for this mobile residence amounted to 27,000 dollars (around 25,000 euros). A cheap sum paid to treat yourself to a modern concept, where comfort, durability and autonomy converge in a custom habitat.
