The anguish of a dog waiting for its owner It all started when the residents of unit 103 of this building were transferred to a nursing home for the elderly where pets were not allowed to enter. So they left the dog outside, as relayed by our colleagues at Animal Channel, in an article published on March 25, 2022. Not knowing what happened, the dog remained in front of the door of the building, waiting for its owners. Loyal by nature, it refused to leave the only place it considered home.

The other residents of the building were aware of the situation, and felt sorry for the dog. It had been outside for six months already. Since his owner left, the dog has been waiting at the entrance of the building day after day, hoping to see a familiar face. Even though he spent his day outside, the dog was not neglected. The residents were very kind to him. They fed him and made sure he stayed healthy. One day, while the dog was standing, as usual, at the door of the building, a stray cat approached him. The dog did not react.

He let himself be approached. A bond was immediately formed between the two animals. As the days went by, passers-by often saw them cuddling and playing together. They comforted each other and never left each other’s side. People loved them and often fed them. They even built them a small house, but friends always preferred to meet at the entrance of the building. As winter approached, the residents, concerned about the health of the two friends, decided to contact an animal shelter. Catching them was difficult. Rescuers set up a trap net, using treats to lure them in. It took over a day to catch both the dog and the cat. The animals were taken to the vet for a health check. Against all odds, they were both healthy, despite being strays. The vet said that the residents must have taken good care of them. The two friends were eventually taken to the shelter. The residents of the building hoped that they would be adopted together by a family. Fortunately, they both had happy endings. They were separated, but they were adopted by loving families. Their new owners even made sure that these two inseparable friends continued to see each other.
